Fall equinox celebration at Black Run

Celebrate the Fall Equinox at Black Run!

Celebrate the fall equinox

Welcome the fall on the equinox by spending it at the Black Run with a yoga & hike and a drum circle.

Our monthly Black Run yoga continues and we’ll have an adult class led by Ambassador Kimberly K. Friedman, OD and a family friendly class led by Ambassador Maureen Heenan.

After that join founder of Femmelody, Leanne Friendman, for a drum circle!  She invites everyone young and old to bring a drum, a rattle, or anything that makes sound to join in on the fun!!

We look forward to spending the equinox with you!

Kimberly K. Friedman, OD

In addition to being a proud Black Run Preserve Ambassador, Dr. Kimberly Friedman is an optometric physician at Moorestown Eye Associates and a yoga instructor (E-RYT) at Powerhouse Fitness and Yoga (formerly The Yoga Center of Medford). It is her hope to incorporate her love of the Pine barrens and her love of yoga by offering periodic nature themed yoga classes in Black Run Preserve!

When not hiking in Black Run with her dog Penny, she makes frequent television appearances on shows such as The Rachael Ray Show, Fox’s Good Day and Comcast Newsmakers to discuss eye care related topics and serves as a clinical director for the Lions Club International Special Olympics Opening Eyes Program.

Maureen Heenan

Maureen Heenan has been volunteering in the Black Run Preserve since attending teacher camp at the Pinelands Alliance in 2009. Maureen is a teacher at DeMasi Middle School in Evesham Township. She has served as a resource for the school district to introduce students to the Black Run Preserve, and she and John Volpa, developed a middle school ambassador program in 2015. Maureen loves to introduce people to the beauty of the pine barrens, and looks forward to many more student projects.
