Veterans and Nature Hike - November 11, 2024

11/11/2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET

Friends of Black Run Preserve (FBRP) is pleased to announce a special ambassador program titled Veterans and Nature. This program was inspired by the National Forest Service’s (NFS) recognition of the wellness benefits nature provides, which are often underutilized by veterans nationwide. NFS’s call-to-action grant inspired FBRP to design a program connecting veterans with nature, self, and others. Our Veterans and Nature program is a series of three experiences, each offering a unique set of mindfulness tools to help veterans feel more confident in exploring nature as a means to develop inner calm and resilience through immersive practices and meaningful connections.

The Veterans and Nature experience is a two-mile, easy-paced walk with stops for discussions and mindfulness tool development. Our program launches on Veterans' Day, November 11. The second and third walks are scheduled for January and February. Participants may join any one or all three of the walks.
