Maple Tree Tapping Demonstration 2025

1/11/2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET

Maple syrup. Yum! Have you ever wondered how this delectable treat makes its way from the tree onto your pancakes? Join FBRP and Naturalist, Keara Giannotti, Executive Director of Camp Creek Run and FBRP Trustee Emeritus, for a demonstration of maple syrup tapping and learn about tree physiology and sap flow, winter tree identification, and maple tapping basics. We will be tapping some of our native red maple trees, and installing tubing to enable sap collection.

Want to take the experience a step further? Registered participants have the option of signing up to collect the sap for syrup production (and consumption!) in their own homes. Download the documents on this page for more information about this opportunity and syrup collection and production. Please indicate if you are interested in joining the collection project when you fill out the registration form.

This event is open to all ages and makes for a fun, educational family outing.  Participation is limited, as is parking. Carpooling is recommended when feasible.
