350 Years of Evesham – Guided Nature Hike - Sunday, July 26, 2026

7/26/2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET

Discover how the landscape and people of Evesham have shaped one another over the past 350 years. Join Black Run Preserve founder John Volpa for a leisurely two-mile walk exploring the area's rich natural and cultural history.

From its earliest Indigenous inhabitants to the Quaker settlers who helped shape the township, Evesham has played an important role in the history of the Pine Barrens. Originally encompassing what are now five neighboring townships, Evesham was named after a town in England and became a community known for peaceful relations with Native peoples, local industries, support of the abolitionist movement, and contributions to women's suffrage.

Along the way, you'll discover how these stories are reflected in today's Black Run Preserve, where the landscape still bears evidence of centuries of natural change and human activity.

Our trails have hard and soft sand, slight elevations, roots, and stumps and some wet areas. Porta Potty is available at the beginning and end of hike
