Fire! Guided Nature Hike - Saturday, August 8, 2026

8/8/2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET

Fire continues to shape the landscape, regardless of what humans build on it. Join Black Run Preserve Ambassador and Founder, John Volpa, for a 2 mile hike emphasizing local fires and their causes, fire ecology, and steps homeowners can take to reduce risks to their homes. John will discuss ecological history and current best practices to protect one’s family, providing valuable information for all local citizens.
Our hike will begin promptly at the Borton's Road REI trailhead at 10:00 am and will end at 12:00 pm. Our trails have hard and soft sand, slight elevations, roots, and stumps and some wet areas. Porta Potty is available at the beginning and end of the hike. Please dress for the weather. Hiking shoes, water, and bug repellant spray are recommended.
